Ryann Phillips is a journalist from Atlanta, Georgia. Her human-first reporting puts a face on societal issues by evoking emotions and action through sharp writing and details. As a sociology major at Spelman College, she learned the importance of understanding micro problems and contextualizing them with historical facts. She has applied this knowledge through her work in local newsrooms in Savannah, Georgia and Syracuse, New York. She's the former host of Walk With Grace, the podcast, with more than 2,000 downloads. She graduated with a B.A. in sociology from Spelman College in 2024. Ryann is a master's student in the magazine, news, and digital journalism program at the S.I.
